In 1936, the gubernatorial candidate of Veracruz, Manlio Fabio Altamirano Flores, was assassinated at Café de Tacuba, becoming a tragic event.
This iconic restaurant also served as inspiration for writer Oscar Lewis for his novel "The Children of Sánchez." Additionally, the rock band led by Rubén Albarrán, Café Tacvba, took its name from this iconic place in Mexico City due to the connection they felt with the blend of influences present in the restaurant.
Over the years, Café de Tacuba has experienced changes, such as a fire in 1999 that affected the facade but did not compromise the structure of the building. Currently, the restaurant continues to operate at Tacuba 28, offering a diverse menu that includes traditional Mexican dishes with prices ranging from 71 to 443 pesos.
